Civil & Environmental Engineering Summer Undergraduate Research Fair

Summer Undergraduate Research Fair

The 2020 Civil & Environmental Engineering Summer Undergraduate Research Fair is a celebration of the research and creative activity conducted by undergraduates in civil and environmental engineering disciplines. Typically, our undergraduates participate in a traditional poster session to culminate their summer research. This year, the research fair will be conducted virtually and will consist of two main components: 1) the asynchronous portion: recorded poster narrations or research videos available online for public viewing, and 2) the synchronous portion: undergraduate researchers will be live online in Zoom breakout rooms to further discuss their research, answer questions, and engage with the research community. We hope to see you there!

Schedule

Wednesday July 29, 2020 - Tuesday August 4, 2020: Asynchronous Recorded Research Videos (presentation list and links)

Tuesday August 4, 2020, 10:00AM - 12:00PM: Synchronous Live Research Fair (email Dr. Christine Wittich for connection details at cwittich AT unl.edu)

Synchronous, Live Session Logistics

Zoom link made available by email to Dr. Christine Wittich (cwittich AT unl.edu). There are 3 sessions during which different student presenters will be available for discussion and Q&A. There is a 5-minute break in between each session to allow each student presenter to "set-up" in their breakout room and for the audience to review the list of upcoming presenters. Each session will have a moderator (TBD) who will assign you to breakout rooms upon request. You are free to leave a breakout room at any time (bottom-right corner of Zoom, red button: Leave Breakout Room) and re-enter the main session, where you may request the moderator assign you to another breakout room. Similar to a live poster session, please be courteous and quiet (muted) upon entry into an active breakout room and wait for an opening to engage with the presenter. Breakout rooms will be limited to 5 participants at any given time to keep the discussions manageable.

10:00AM - 10:05AM: Introductory Remarks

10:10AM - 10:35AM: Session #1 with 6 breakout rooms (1 per student presenter, presentation list)

10:40AM - 11:05AM: Session #2 with 6 breakout rooms (1 per student presenter, presentation list)

11:10AM - 11:35AM: Session #3 with 6 breakout rooms (1 per student presenter, presentation list)

11:40AM - 11:45AM: Concluding Remarks
